Special Events & Homeland Security

The Patrol Division is responsible for evaluating and coordinating specialized police services for a variety of events on and off campus.

The primary functions are to provide police and security planning to the numerous organizations and special event venues, which may include:

  • concerts
  • movie shoots
  • charitable benefits
  • VIP visitors and dignitary protection
  • intercollegiate athletic events

Each year the UCLA PD provides services to well over 400 requests for service involving special events. As the maintenance of safety and security at campus events has become more complex and challenging, we strive to provide the best service to our community.

Homeland Security
The Terrorism Liaison Sergeant works with other law enforcement agencies to collect and disseminate information that could affect UCLA as it relates to safety, terrorism and Homeland Security. The Terrorism Liaison Sergeant works closely with the Los Angeles County Terrorism Early Warning Group (TEW) to assess and monitor trends and threats. This partnership with the TEW provides vital support and assistance under the Los Angeles unified command structure.

The coordination of services with our counterparts at the federal, state and local level helps ensure the safety of the UCLA community.
